Boosting female representation in technology has been high on the agenda for the past decade. However, despite an industry wide-push and several informative campaigns to encourage females to study STEM subjects the percentage of women employed in UK tech has been increased only 1.3% since 2009. Today only 17% of women are employed in tech roles and just 10% of them are in leadership positions (The Guardian Labs, 2021)
Occasioned by the International Women’s Day, we would like to celebrate one of our very own tech savvy females who is a Service Desk Engineer. Natasha is one of our most recognised team members not only for her professional skills, but for her work ethic and her enthusiasm to go the extra mile for colleagues and customers.
Natasha’s journey
Natasha had a passion for IT from a very young age. Learning from her father about building and maintaining computers which gave her inspiration to go into this career. Her curiosity helped her then progress her knowledge within school, experimenting using the available computers and Apple Macs. Her ambitions further strengthened when she studied Level 3 BTEC in Software Development and within this course she focused on the more technical side of IT.
After College Natasha earned herself an IT apprenticeship at Woodrush High School in the Midlands studying ICT Professional Competence. This role gave her the opportunity to gain hands on experience configuring network infrastructures and implement IT changes such as upgrading to Windows 10. Moving forward, Natasha then secured a job as internal IT technician for a property software company working within a much bigger team of IT professionals and gained more experience and developed her skills further.
Natasha joined the METCLOUD team in the summer of 2021.
